Our nightmare has arrived, what will we do?

Good morning, all

John O'Connor gave me a call to ask for Eskom's number, at 1.43AM. No problem. Neighbours help each other. His Eskom cables had been stolen and he needed to report the theft, in the dark, and needed the number.

Ours were stolen time and again. Other neighbours had theirs stolen similarly. All of our Telkom cables disappeared a long time ago, with massive economic consequences.

Two ladies were raped this week.

The roads are collapsing, almost beyond the capacity of any institution to fix them.

Those who own properties neglect them to the deleterious consequences of many, such as rape.

Crime is rampant, infrastructure damaged almost beyond repair. And as construction begins in earnest, we know crime will soar.

We are living in Limbo, not Linbro Park. Who will provide the political leadership to give us a way forward? I submit, that, without pointing fingers, the current LPCA needs to step aside and allow a vote for more progressive, dynamic leadership. And my name is not in the ring. I have no capacity or experience for this.

I have no brief or problems with any of the hard-working LPCA members, but surely the Baltimore no-broken-window rule should apply here? You break the law, in any way, you are held accountable.

I can tell you what will not work: bimonthly or quarterly stuffy, poorly attended meetings where people present non-existent results, ask for annual rates payments, and one individual gathers proxy votes which are rejected, either constitutionally or not.

It's time for a complete rethink. As Steff Dembo says, our lifestyle is going down the tubes, as fast as the birds are losing their homes.

  1. Did I say that Frank??
What I meant was, this has become a suburb of uninterested, money-grubbers.. which may be the way forward for progress economically, but definitely not for lifestyle.
LPCA?? What the hell is that?
I have met one or two of the members in almost 10 years of living here..
There has NEVER been any sort of inclusion for mere residents.. albeit they care about their haughty landbaron neighbours.. you aside, and one or two others.
    But alas and alack...
Y'all fight a losing battle to maintain your 'piece of paradise'.. the money machines have already rolled into town, and your country lifestyle in the city is doomed! In fact, the Fat Lady has already sung here in the south end of Linbro!
If there are any residents in Linbro who have not seen what has transpired here along the border of Clifford Road, take your heart pills and then venture down Clulee [ignore the 'road closed' signs] turn into Clifford and then into Hilton. Yes, you will gasp, gasp, gasp!!
Anyway, unfortunately, the landbarons where I resided so happily, succumbed when the price got right... so I am maybe outta here, unless I can find another one who is still hanging on 'for the right price'... in which case I would consider remaining here for another year or so, to give the dikkops/owls/hares/paddas and snakes a good home, for just a little while longer!! ::((
